I am 51 years old and I had my right ACL replaced back in 2000. Dr.Perry used the hamstring with a technique called Bone Mulch Washer Lock. It worked great so I was playing hockey again within 4 months.
Well I'm back because I tore my left ACL on March 4th. It was our first playoff game and I hit a guy in the corner and he fell againt the outside of my knee. Ouch!
Today is May 10th and I have now had the surgery back on May 4, 2007. The surgeon used my hamstring for the graft. I was walking 4 hours after surgery without crutches or a brace. At one week post op I am walking pretty good and the PT said I am where most people are at after 1 month. Stay tuned.
