- Having Allograft surgery at Woodlands Sports Center in The Woodlands, TX.
I was told the "Gold Standard" is no longer the "Gold Standard" any longer as the techniques are more advanced and the threat of infection is far less than it had been in the past. He said the older surgeons are more proned to push for autograft surgery as they are more comfortable with it. He also said this is the way he would do it if he had the problem and that the patella autograft surgery can cause damage and weakness to the patella which has it's own issues to deal with in the long run.
I am having the surgery tomorrow 5/5 (yes, cinco de mayo) so I am a little late in posting. I am a little in fear of the femoral nerve blocker (needle in the groin sounds worse than the knee surgery to me!). I am also a little concerned about the few days after the surgery. Will I really have that much pain or is it not going to be as bad as I am preparing for it to be?
