I am a 27 yr-old sports active male who suffered a grade three PCL tear and slight meniscus tear in my left knee during a car accident on Sept. 15th. Along with these left knee injuries I also dislocated both hips which were able to be closed reductions. However, I went through two surgeries on my left hip, one to remove bone fragments and another to remove a hematoma. Currently, I am walking without crutches but experiencing sharp pains on the inner side of the knee, knee swelling, and inability to completely straighten leg or “lock out” the knee when standing. I am seriously considering PCL reconstruction using a cadaver graft (donated Achilles tendon) and meniscus surgery. I have the following questions:

1: Is it worth getting both repaired in one surgery??

2: What exactly is a Cadaver Graft and the benefits of using it?

3: What is the usual non weight bearing time after the surgery?

4: How long does the PT last, and to what extremes can it go?

5: Can some one come back from this type of surgery in less than 6 months?

6: Anyone have suggestions other feed back that may be beneficial to me or websites that have photos or more information on this exact type of surgery?

7: When can I play basketball again?

I am the type of person who likes to educate himself on what is going on and ways to get myself a good head start on my recovery. I look forward to your response. Thank you.
