I am 31-year-old female who has played softball and basketball in school all the way up to my senior year in high school. Thereafter, I played collegiate softball for 4 years and have played in very competitive softball leagues since. I had my first knee surgery on the left knee my junior year of high school. I had a torn lateral meniscus while playing basketball and was repaired with no problem. This August I playing in a competitive softball tournament and I was playing left field. The ball was hit to me, I made the slightest movement to my left and I immediately heard for consecutive pops "pop, pop, pop ,pop". My knee got weak but the sensation went away and I continued to play the game with no problem. The next day my knee was very swollen and painful to the point I could not play in the tournament. I had an MRI 3 days later and it revealed a completely ruptured acl, mcl, and medial meniscus. Surgery on 9-12-08 using my patellar ligament.
