Greetings or something. I'm currently 25, completely tore my ACL, MCL, both meniscus at 19 and had reoccurring patella femoral syndrome since 7th grade (inflammation of the cartlige under the kneecap). Having gone to a high school without a sports program, all I did outside of school was play sports. After graduation and some other hard times I decided to drop weight(at that time 5'8" 240) and take a stab at maybe going to college and playing ball there or just go for semi pro. Well, since pick up games would be practice I played as many as possible, I'd play sometimes 3 or 4 times a week. Saturdays and Sundays I would drive around and try to find people playing. Kinda sad when you find a game and have one person your age but smaller than you, 2 16 years olds and a girl to make your team against 4 people older, bigger than you and 2 other 16 or so year olds. That, of course, is the game you completely destroy your knee. I've had doctors lose MRI's, not know what to do, not perscribe pain medication, but didn't hesitate to line up more appt's and therapy sessions at their clinic. So here I be. Almost 6 years later, attempting the same goal, a dream now at 25. I've had the surgery to repair everything in the knee. I'm kinda going to therapy(have a therapist that enjoys inflicting pain, literally)but doing home exercises and walking. To go after something like this is pointless probably, but after 6 years of bones grinding, constantly spraining and popping, tearing more stuff while playing football and other sports without any type of comfort aside from ice, I feel I owe it to myself. My surgeon is well respected, highy recommended, and I really like him and the work he has done so far. Aside from the scar tissue pulling and making a pinching burning pain (kinda like when you have dry skin you scratched too much) under the skin and the therapist that enjoys hurting my knee (swear she won't stop until she feels a nice pop, rip or tear of it), it hasn't been too bad after the first 2 1/2 weeks. That was hell. Made me wish I never had the surgery. Hell, when the lady yokes my leg back, I wish then too. Well, this is all I feel like typing right now, maybe I'll add more some other time. Have a Good or Great Day.
