Hello I am a 55 year old male who enjoys the outdoors and all the activities that deal with the outdoors including hiking,biking, hunting, fishing,and more of the same every opportunity I get. I had a accident while turkey hunting ten or so year ago in which I tore my left acl (at the time I didn,t know what an acl was )I had to make splints and travel about two miles across rugged terrain before getting to my truck, needless to say what hadn't been damaged in the accident got damaged on the way out. I had torn the menicus as well as the acl and the first surgeon I went to really messed me up repairing the menicus and denied that I had a torn ACL. Well about a week trying to work on my leg was all I could take and so I found another surgeon who confirmed that the acl was torn which he replaced with my patellar tendon as well as repairing the damage done to my menicuis by the first surgeon.All went well and ten years went by then the summer of 2007 I started having a tearing sensation in my left knee a little at a time over the summer. instead of going to the doctor I worked on and one night in late aug I stepped off the fork truck and felt a pretty serious tear. five minuites later I was down on the floor because my knee had went out and when I stood up and walked a short distance the knee went out again with my leg getting into a awkward postion and in a lot of pain. From there I managed to have a MRI which confirmned a torn ACL and severe menicuis damage. Ayway here I sit Jan 18 after having two new surgerys one to repair the menicuis as well as the pcl which was partially torn along with micro-fracture surgery to promote cartilage growth the other surgey six weeks ago to reconstruct the acl with a patellara tendon from a cadiver.
