I am a normally very athletic & active 51 yr old who had a skiing accident while on vacation last Christmas. I tore my ACL, badly strained my MCL & got a hairline fracture in my left knee. I had a month of PT before my surgery on February 29th. I'm a week into my 4th month of recovery & am still in PT 3 days a week. I am doing well on regaining strength but am 10 degrees behind on bending my knee. I am at a very painful 20 degrees right now & progress is excruciatingly slow. I've gained only 5 degrees in over a month. I could really use any encouragement or advice from someone who's been there. Those who have not all have the same "bite the bullet, get tough, & make it happen" advice. Believe me, I'm NOT a wimp! My PT is brutal...she leans her whole body on my leg & pushes until the pain is unbearable. My knee just doesn't budge. My whole body starts to slide up the table. I wonder if I'll ever be normal again. If anyone has had a similar problem with bending & made it through....I'd love to hear from you!
