I had injured and lost my ACL about 34-years ago. However I was able to play tennis at the highest level without my ACL until 3 years ago, when I twisted my knee and never fully recovered as I used to (perhaps returning to tennis too soon or doing more "damage" then the "usual"). I was able to play tennis but not running like before... I had ACL reconstruction surgery June 8th, 2011 using cadaver patella tendon. During the surgery more than 80% of the medial meniscus was removed as well as more then 15% of the lateral meniscus. I am rehabbing and the doc and therapist say I am "ahead of the curve" ... I am concerned I have a stretched ACL as during the "prone hang" exercise the heal on the operated leg was lower than the non-operated leg. The doc said I may be doing too much but not to be concerned as it is better to overstretch than not to gain full range of motion when returning to sports.
Questions:
1) Can the graft "heal" (not be "stretched") when repopulating with my cells? I am asking this question as I understand it is still "early" in the recovering process.
2) My pattela locks my knee when bending after straightening my leg... Is this a "normal" part of the recovery?
