April 2001-
34 years old complete ACL tear in right knee (indoor soccer) After several months of rehab knee was relatively stable so elected not to have reconstruction, reasoning that I would rather give up the soccer, skiing type activities than go through surgery and more rehab
2001-2007- several minor knee-give-way incidents, more inconvenience than anything, no good exercise program, gained 45 pounds
June 2007-
Major knee-give-way incident in a blow-up obstacle course (yes, somewhat stupid thing to do at 40 years old, 40 pounds overwieght without an ACL) RICE and my ace brace and walking the next day- did not see an orthopaedists
Jan-May 2008, return to exercise program, 3X week yoga, 3X week eliptical or run, 3X week strength, lost 23 pounds
May 9, 2008: Major knee-give-way incident during jumping jacks (I just don't learn) RICE, Ace brace, took a week off exercise, some stiffness but seems ok, did not see an ortho
May 22, 2008: Major knee-give-way incident just walking. No pain but major instability.
May 23, 2008: Saw ortho, MRI. confirmed previous ACL and added lateral bone compartment injury and redial tear in the posterior horn of the medial meniscus.
