Hi; Did the doctor recommend surgery to reconstruct both the ACL& PCL? PCL reconstruction is a very difficult procedure not only because of where the ligament is located, but also because of the difficulty of the graft placement. A lot of orthopods will only attempt to reconstruct the PCL if the the procedure involves reconstruction of another ligament, such as the ACL. I would talk to your doctor. You seem worried about her being able to play sports, but to me the real problem is what's going to happen in the long run if she doesn't get this taken care of. Long term deficiencies of the ACL & PCL lead to the early stages of degenerative joint disease or osteoarthritis. I would seriously consider having surgery. Your daughter may be out of soccer for 6 months, but that's such a short span of time compared to a lifetime of knee problems like Im going through. Im only 27 and about to undergo my 7th knee surgery on Mar. 12th. Think about it. Find a good ortho doc, and that'll make a huge difference. Good Luck!!!
