Some OSs don't tell you this should be lined up prior to surgery (mine refused to schedule surgery until it was lined up, and I saw an early rehabber to see what I was up against).

At the risk of sounding like Dr. Mark, who is flexion/extension/and swelling.

If extension is back, and swelling is down, you've achieved the initial recovery goal.

If you don't have these:
1. ICE
2. Elevate
3. Work on getting extension
4. Sock on your foot, hike your booty up near a wall, and slide you ankle up and down, gravity will help.

Once you can get swelling down everything can follow. Extension, and flex to 120 or so, you can ride a stationary bike. And goodness follows.
