>Cory,
What kind of graft are you having? If patella, (I am 2 months post OP), your recovery will be different then hamstring. I was in an immobilizer for 2 weeks (also tore the meniscus, which was repaired, sewn , not stripped) so I had to wear the immobilizer a bit longer. Pre surgery I don't know if there is much for the crutches . . if you are working out your arms, that should be good. I needed a shower seat for about 2 weeks .. couldn't get incisions wet for 10 days so I kept bad leg out of shower on toilet . . and even after that, i felt more comfortable sitting until I was more secure. You will def. need someone the first 72 hrs all the time. You will be in a lot of pain (again depends on which graft you are having) and can't really do much on your own. After that, the hardest things are trying to carry stuff (like food ) with crutches. I performed some crazy acts with swinging the crutches with my armpits so I could hold a plate. :) My husband works at night. The CPM was a life saver. I used mine for 2 weeks and it was comforting to spend time rehabbing at home. I got a lot of reading done while in the machine 3 hrs a day.
Best of luck and keep us posted!
