Did my ACL hurt my hip?

Since I asked Dr. Mark about the pain and pinching in the lower lateral part of my right knee, I have been going to PT. The therapist thinks it is caused by the I-T Band. I also have a lot of pain in my right thigh that I thought was my quads. It turns out on X-rays I have severe hip arthritis.

How could this happen. I have never hurt my hip and I didn’t fall when I hurt my knee. My ACL was torn for over 4 years before I got it reconstructed, but I only have moderate arthritis in my knee. I don’t have arthritis anywhere else and no one in my family does. I’m not overweight, but I am old (55+). If I was walking wrong because of my knee, could that have hurt my hip?
