Brace after 6 months for 14 year old

Hi Knee Board
Awhile since I have posted, my question is regarding ACL brace. My 14 year old (15 in May) had auto petalla Dec 10/07 she is recovering quickly no issues to speak of. We do not see the OS again until May 28th and are hopeful by than she has regained enough quad and hammy strenghth to be released to start kicking the ball again. We already own the $1500.00 ACL brace made in California which she tried at the end of last season. Our OS has already said she needs to use it for at least 1 year post op. She is the opposite of bull legged and the brace is uncompfortable as it rubs on other knee and slows her down. I know some OS do not require use of the brace.
Is there another smaller more compfortable brace that will also protect her ACL to some degree?
