Yowsers, I understand what your going through. Ive had a total of 7 knee surgeries( 4 ACL Reconstructions, 3scopes). I just underwent the 4th ACL reconstruction on Mar. 12th. The tunnels were in an aukward position in my left knee, and my ortho doc went in redrilled the tunnels, and replaced the graft with the patellar tendon allograft. I can understand why their opting for a bilateral ACL reconstruction, because you wouldn't have to endure the hassle of having one knee done then get through the recovery phase right before the other one needs to be done. Same rationale behind why some ortho docs perform bilateral knee replacements. What kind of allograft are they using? My advice would be to get both of them done at the same time, it'll save you a big hassle. And as for the cartilage injury, most ACL surgeries done in combination with some form of repair to either the cartilage or menisci. Good Luck!!!
