Meniscus tear need some insight
Posted By: PMagee Date: Wednesday, 2 April 2008, at 12:56 p.m.
I am 42 in good shape and I have a tear in my left knee meniscus. I had pattella graft ACL replacement in that knee in 2002 and ACL is, knock wood, doing well. Not sure how I tore the meniscus, I play basketball, run, and do yoga but don't recall any trauma from any of those activities. Rather, I just started getting fluid build up in the knee a few mnths back and finally went to my ortho. He drained knee, reviewed MRI, and said I have a slight tear that is almost like a "delamination."
So I am going to have surgey to treat the tear and my questions are:
(1) how painful is it? The ACL replacement was brutal.
(2) how long is the recovery? when can I walk and when can I start playing ball again.
(3) what is the rehab like?
Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks
