fall 4 weeks after ACL reconstruction

Hi,

I had patella reconstruction on my left knee 5 weeks ago. Fell on the stairs yesterday when my right leg slipped, left (reconstructed) knee bore my full weight for a second or two in a 90 degree bent position then I fell over.

Since then I can walk on it but it is more swollen and there is pain when I bend it (the rehab had been going well and there had been no pain recently).

How do I know if I have done further damage? Is putting all the weight on the bent knee something that could have done this?

I am due for a check up with an x-ray in a week, but wonder if I should wait that long.
