I think Daryl Green, formally of the Washington Redskins and literally the fastest man in the NFL for more than a few years, pulled off the ACL-less stunt. And he was way old for a cornerback when he got injured.

I think most ACL injuries in pointy ball are contact related. Only about half the soccer ones are. A brace will help for the clips.

While a few pull it off, it clearly isn't the norm. Years ago ACL injuries were a death sentance to a long career. Strong muscles will only get you so far for so long in a cutting/contact environment.
