All authorities in spors medicine, at least in the USA, would tell you to get this fixed.
I checked with my attorney. He told me that playing sports without an ACL in a brace is NOT against the law.
No one can stop you from doing it, so do it all ready. It, and likely when, you get hurt, you can have it fixed. Maybe you will find that you are a member of the lucky sperm club.
