on 2/11 my acl, mcl, and meniscus were torn when an auto hit me in my school's parking lot. i'm in the workman's comp system so i am at their mercy. found a doctor who i like who recommended patella tendon autograft. however, i did tons of reading (thanx knee library) and decided on an allograft which was also okay by the doctor. however this doctor does low volume allografts so he cannot get access to one for me at this time. my choice is to delay the surgery indefinitely to wait for the allograft, try to convince the workman's comp people to let me go back to the doctor i had seen originally who seems to have better access to allografts, or just resign myself to the autograft. i was trying to spare myself additional pain/recovery time b/c i've had many health issues in the last few years and many recent articles show that allografts are just as good especially if non-irradiated. also, the original doctor doesn't seem to be a knee guy per se and i feel more comfortable with my current doctor. how bad is the rehab post patellar tendon autograft? how long is the intense pain and is there lingering pain for a long time?
