In Response To: As good as it gets? (Brez)

I had an ACL allo and meniscus repair in November of 2004. I was not permitted to return to sports until 1 year post op. I had swelling, mild pain and some scar tissue cracking and popping up to the one year point. I had slight swelling that I noticed on and off for at least 18 months. I occassionally had stiffness that i attributed to the slight swelling. A few minutes on the exercise bike would relieve the mild stiffness.

I, too, wondered if my knee would ever return to normal. With the exception of some tingling along the skin from the saphenous nerve I notice nothing at all. The knee is normal. It took two years before I quit worrying about it.

I am 47 and I exercise daily and weight train every other day. This past weekend I played 90 minutes of soccer with the kids (open league 20-30 year olds)on Saturday, and 80 minutes in the over 40 league Sunday. Just give it time, continue to strengthen the quads, vmos and hammies and your knee should return to normal.
