Conservative treatment -- CLICKING KNEE

So it's been 3 months post-knee injury. My doctor told me that I have a small meniscus tear at the outer edge. After 3 months of conservative management, I no longer have pain or swelling except a very loud click when I try to extend my knee.

I decided not to undergo arthroscopy but to work on strengthening exercises/conservative management instead. However, I'm a bit worried that the clicking sound may worsen over time, or that the teared meniscus would tear even more. I work in an occupation that requires a lot of walking, going up stairs, and lifting. Does anyone have any experience where the condition actually worsened over time? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
