Please tell me why I don't want a TKR?

I'm 32, have had 3 failed ACL(allografts) and microfracture surgery (May 2007). Ever since the microfracture surgery I have not been able to walk without crutches due to the pain. I recently had HTO (July 3rd 2008, Steadman in Vail), and am still having the same pain that has prevented me from walking.

I've been told my micrforature (inner knee) healed fine and covered the lesion, but it has put me in so much pain.

I can't walk and don't understand why having a TKR is a bad thing. Can someone tell me why a TKR is a not a good idea? If is a good idea please let me know.
