In Response To: Question on Different ACL Surgeries (Holly)

Hi Holly

Always good to see another "Revisioner" on the board. I am in the same boat as you. I blew my right ACL skiing in March 2002. Had auto-hamstring ACL in June 2002. Tore the graft in two stages when I returned to skiing. Dr. Mark helped me greatly in concurring with my new OS who thought the tunnels were in the wrong place and the high incidence of allo failures. I went with an auto-patellar, after a bone grafting procedure to fill in the the first tunnels.

On an overall note I think you need to find an OS that has done lots of revisions. My first surgery was with Kaiser in Colorado where you didn't exactly have a lot of choice! I think he did more hip and knee replacements than anything else. When I relocated to Portland, Oregon I put a question on this very board as to anyone know of a good ortho in Portland, OR? I got quite a few responses and went from there!

Good luck and feel free to contact me should I be able to assist in any way.

Caroline
