So.. an update for all of you. I had my meeting with my OS yesterday following partial menisectomy the week before. I learned some really important things. I have moderate genu valgum - knock knees in plain speak. This is genetic - my mothers are the same way. This leads to a lot of stress on the lateral menisci during flexion. I have hyper mobile joints and both times that I injured my meniscus was in deep squat. This is good news because I can avoid hyperflexion in my work and my sport. I know more about my knees so I can take better care of them. I have some osteoarthritis in the lateral compartment, but there are all kinds of options for me. I am 3 days from belt testing in TKD and I have been doing 2 - 3 hours every day from Day 5 post op. Once the belt testing is over with, I can take it a little easier on the knee and finish rehabbing it a little more gently. I figure I can get the functionality I need out of my knees and continue to be active. Thank you for all your support
