KICKER WITHOUT A ACL

BACKGROUND,My 17 year old son is the kicker for his High school football team. he is a senior and had colleges watching him as he showed potential last year kicking 68 yards. His stupid coach had him go out for a pass(yeah he is the Kicker)he caught the ball then his own team mate tackled him as hard as he could. He tore his ACL and his MCL. His acl is completly tore in half. His mcl is starting to heal pretty good. it has been 2wks since the injury. they could not operate until the swelling went down. Now the doc said that if his MCL healed he could possibly kick with out the acl. Of course we do not know if he could even get the ball off the ground but then again the power comes from his hip and his plant leg not his kicking leg. our thoughts are he could play and then get the surgery in November on his ACL but we are concerned that this could cause problems down the road and possibly would jepordize his college days. ANY thoughts!!!
