Tom,

We have a completely different treatment plan for combined ACL-LCL ruptures for the initial 4-6 weeks following the injury, which includes appropriate rehabilitation exercises and gentle knee motion. After receiving instruction from a therapist, these can all be done at home.

You will be at a disadvantage if you decide to have surgery if you've literally done zero for a month - the muscle atrophy will be a real negative factor in your postoperative recovery. I'd think about seeking another opinion.
