In Response To: Re: ACL Reconstruction / Jon Doe or Hamstring? (Joel)
I have a auto-patellar in my right knee and an auto-hamstring in my left knee. I was a competitive soccer player and found that the hamstring took a little more time due to re-strengthening the hamstring muscle where the hamstring graft was harvested. It just took some extra time doing reverse single leg hamstring curls.
There was someone here who had good results with an achilles allograft. I don't buy the age issue for allos. I think it's a matter of less work for the surgeon since he doesn't need to harvest anything, plus there's a markup on the cost of the allograft which is more profitable for him/her. Has your surgeon had good results with the allo on other competitive martial artists?
