True, I was offered the allo but chose the auto-hamstring instead. If you choose the allograft, hopefully it's an achilles and the tissue bank has the proper disease control records for it. It takes longer for an allograft to incorporate since it's not your own tissue so expect 9-12 months before returning to sports. The knee typically feels great following an allograft due to no harvest site pain, however the allograft is extremely weak during the first 9-12 months and can be stretched or torn if not careful.
