IT Band syndrome

My daughter had acl recon Dec 07 and is back playing soccer without brace. She played with brace from June 08 to April 09 The recon was on her left knee and all seems well with the graft. Since dropping the brace she is having pain on the outside of her right knee.
The question I have is can the good non repaired knee have issues like IT Band syndrome or Chondromalacia? We don't think she has injured ligaments or meniscus.
Is she over compensating with the right knee some how?

Has anyone seen this type of situation before?
