Arthritis/ PT Meniscus

Opinions please:

How does one minimize the chances of arthritis or chronic tendonitis? Is getting full range during post operative PT one of the keys? Is the meniscus another key? The lateral meniscus?

My daughter has a torn ACL and a small tear in her meniscus, I think in the posterior as her lateral meniscus seems to be OK. So is repairing or sewing the meniscus a better way to go? Will that slow rehab?
