Not sure if this is "positive" but consider that no one *really* knows how your knee will fair. So it is possible, you'd be fine or nearly so. Although a lot of research is published, and a lot of Dr's claim such and such, and statistics are published supporting one, or the other, or both, what is happening to you in particular is *still* poorly understood and therefore not as predictable as you might read from the above claims. For those who *understand* these publications, and have studied the issues involved, those intellectually honest people will tell you we do not understand diddly about how a knee, injured such as yours, will behave.
People have a hard time *really* understanding correlations, thats just the way our brain is wired-up, and a lot of the literature on that topic is just correlations amongst a few, select variables (parameters?). Most, if not all the evidence out there has no physical mechanism supporting it at the cellular level. ie, people just dont know. And this is not thermodynamics, where the ensembles behavior can be predicted. here, the individual cellular response of a few changes the overall organ outcome. Your surgeon may act like he knows, and thinks he knows, for better or for worse he is acting on that understanding, and maybe he should admit this is the best he's got..and thats fair.
no one can tell you whether youlll have significant problems..you maybe just fine. you're young, sounds like you have a chance for your body to heal itself...just dont go twisting your knee around playing soccer on grass for ex ;-)
