In Response To: Need advice.... (MargM)
These ACL reconstructions have a good success rate but saying that, means there are also those that do fail. Sue Westin, a clinical researcher working at a large orthopaedic center, posts on here every now and then and in the past she has provided success rates for the various ACL reconstruction methods. In general, the autografts have about a 10-15% higher success rate over the allografts and the autografts have no rejection rate which is commonly indicated at around 1% for allografts. Success rates alone do not indicate which type of reconstruction one should go with since all methods are available and there are pro/con to each of them.
The fact that you have had past failures, obviously does give one concern as to what to do next and what the chnances are for success this time around. I would try and search for past postings by Sue. Believe her username is WestinSB. Use this Forum's search engine searching on WstinSB. If she has an EMail address, I would forward an EMail to her and your concerns (your info in your posting). She may/may not see your posting on this Forum depending on how often she checks it out.
