Photographs of American Football Player Carson Palmer just prior to, during, and immediately after his January 8/06 ACL-and-MCL knee injury due to sideways forcing (consequent to Kimo von Oelhoffen rolling into the knee).

From the Cincinnati Enquirer website (Photo by Tom Uhlman, AP File):

This photograph shows Cincinnati Bengals (NFL) quarterback Carson Palmer throwing a pass just prior being hit by Steelers defensive end Kimo von Oelhoffen, in the fateful January 8/06 playoff game. The incident left Palmer with a torn ACL, a torn MCL, a dislocated patella, and almost certainly some latent, unmentioned ancillary injuries. Looking closely at Palmer's left knee, the lower-shell portion of the Breg Fusion brace can be seen.

From the Sports Illustrated website (Photograph by Andy Lyons/Getty Images):

This photograph shows Kimo von Oelhoffen rolling into Carson Palmer's knee. (The fact that Oelhoffen has wrapped his right arm around Palmer's leg suggests that the injury was deliberate. Although it could be argued the Oelhoffen's intent was to break his fall, Oelhoffen really should have broken his fall using both hands on the ground.)

From the USA Today website (Photograph by Michael Keating, Cincinnati Enquirer):

This photograph shows Carson Palmer being carted off the field (in a maintenance tractor), subsequent to his January 8, 2006 knee injury. A Breg Fusion prophylactic knee brace is visible on Palmer's left knee. This structurally poorly-engineered brace bowed inwards, thus allowing massive injury (ACL and PCL tearing) to occur.
