Bob's ACL WWWBoard
On-Line Knee Library
|
Compiled by Michael Frind. Site last updated Wednesday, January 30, 2008.
Welcome to the Research Section of the Knee Library, an on-line resource intended for patients who would like to do some in-depth research into their knee conditions. The materials available on this site go beyond the general-level materials typically found on websites. Also included are resources targeted specifically towards patients, for example physiotherapy and surgery-rehabilitation protocols. Materials dealing with knee-injury prevention can also be found here.
If you would like to discuss knee-related issues in a forum setting, visit Bob's ACL WWWBoard, a forum intended for various knee injuries and not just the ACL. (The forum, founded in 1996, also includes a searchable deep archive of past postings.) The Knee Library often serves as a resource base for discussions on the forum.
Research Section
This site contains medical-journal articles and other in-depth research materials pertaining to knee conditions.
Articles are continually being added.
If you are new to the world of knee injuries, click here for a brief overview of knee anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
Knee Library, Category View (42 subsections marshalled into 9 main group headings) (This is the most useful interface, particularly if you are new to the Library. Its heirarchical organization makes it easy to navigate.)
Knee Library, Legacy Layout View (42 subsections in order of development) (This legacy interface, as used during the development of the Knee Library, is made available for users who feel more comfortable with the original layout. The order is simply the order in which the subsections were created.)
Knee Library, Itemized View (Articles listed alphabetically by document designator) (This interface is useful if you are looking for a specific article by author name. If you do not have any author names in mind, then please use the category-based interfaces above or the search feature below.)
Format: firstauthor-journal-date.shtml
Knee Library Search (using Larry Page's famous search engine) (This feature now searches both the peer-reviewed medical-journal articles and the general resources. Please note that previous postings on the discussion forum are searchable here, yet this Google search will find previous postings in the Interim Archive. Note, too, that because there is a time lag between when a new document is added to the Library and when it is indexed by Google, this Search feature can be expected to miss some of the newest additions to the Library. To see a listing of recently added articles, please click here.)
As of February 10, 2007, the Google Search feature is working correctly.
